Its good to see a big box retailer that is actually committed to reducing its carbon footprint and leading by example. This Time magazine article discusses Ikea’s efforts to further the integration of geothermal as a more conventional commercial heating and cooling alternative. Most big box retailers are concerned with doing things as cheaply as possible by slapping a few large rooftop package units on the roof with concentric diffusers. Then they leave the doors open (with or without air curtains) and let the units try to dehumidify, heat and cool the great outdoors. Yes, I mean you Costco!
